Screen & Intervene: Addressing Food Insecurity Among Older Adults” is a course designed for health care providers who work with adults ages 50 and over. The course also is useful for those interested in learning more about food insecurity and how to address this serious health issue facing millions of older Americans.
The course is offered free of charge. The full course takes an hour but does not have to be completed in one seating. Participants can receive 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit of Continuing Medical Education (CME) for MDs and DOs as well as other professional groups. A certificate of completion is also available.
Screen & Intervene: Addressing Food Insecurity Among Older Adults educates healthcare providers in identifying and addressing food insecurity among older adults, defined here as age 50 and older. The content is divided into five modules and it is recommended that the modules be taken in order. The complete program covers:
Each module should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, although you may start and stop as often as you like.

1 free AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ available for: MDs & DOs, Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses, Physician Assistants, Certified Nurse Midwives and Licensed Social Workers
Licensed counselors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and chiropractors can accept the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ as an equivalent as long as the topic is relevant to the applicant’s field or discipline.
