Mental Health First Aid Training (Adult & Older Adult)

Mental Health First Aid is an evidenced-based course for certification, that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use issue or is experiencing a crisis.

At this time, The Central New York Area Health Education Center (CNYAHEC) is able to offer this training free of charge to interested parties!

The training can be delivered in a number of ways:

• Older Adult specific must be delivered in person.
  • One 7.5 hour day.
    • The one day training could be ideal for working professionals (Social Workers, Case Managers, Counselors, Therapists, etc.).
  • Two days 10:30-2:30.
    • The two-day training is often the preferred method for local senior centers, community centers, churches, or nutrition sites.
  • The Adult Version can be delivered in 3 ways.
    • In-Person: One 7.5 hour day.
    • Blended: 2 hours of online pre-work
      • 5-5.5 hours of In-Person Training
    • Blended Virtual: 2 hours of online pre-work
      • 5-5.5 hours of Virtual Training
