Program Learning Outcomes

  • Interpret and apply medical terminology in health-related contexts.

Joint Program - Nursing A.S. with Belanger School of Nursing

Learn more about SUNY Schenectady's partnership with Belanger School of Nursing for a Nursing A.S.

Students interested in transfer to Belanger School of Nursing can take their non-nursing courses scheduled around the nursing curriculum at SUNY Schenectady County Community College. Courses chosen must be comparable in content and credit to the required college courses in the curriculum. Persons interested in enrolling in the School of Nursing may complete any of the college courses before enrollment and receive advanced curriculum credit if the criteria for advanced credit are met. All course requirements for the first year must have satisfactory completion before progression to the second year.

The A.S. in Nursing is a multi-institution program with Ellis Medicine – Belanger School of Nursing as the degree granting institution and SUNY Schenectady as the non-degree granting institution providing non-nursing courses. Pursuant to 34 CFR §668.14 and 34 CFR §668.43 (2024 Rule), and in compliance with the SARA Policy Manual, if an educational program is designed to meet educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification that is required for employment in an occupation, or is advertised as meeting such requirements, the institution must provide students information regarding whether completion of that program would be sufficient to meet licensure requirements in a State for that occupation. For the A.S. in Nursing, the institutions have determined the curriculum of this program meets the New York State requirements for licensure. For further information, please see Ellis Medicine's Belanger School of Nursing.
