  • Overview

The George Washington University Mullan Institute hosted a webinar series regarding emergency health workforce policies to address COVID-19. The series included topics such as An Opportunity to Build the Public Health Workforce, Data Tool to Calculate Contact Tracer Workforce Need, and Increasing Supply by Tapping Retirees and Other Health Practitioners.

In Increasing Supply by Tapping Retirees and Other Health Practitioners, Lauren Block of the National Governors Association discusses policy strategies that states are using to increase workforce capacity. Jean Moore, director of the Center for Health Workforce Studies in Albany, reports on New York State’s efforts, including the use of retirees and other volunteers, and provides advice to other states as they prepare for the surge from COVID-19.
