This course introduces community health workers to core concepts of mental health, with a focus on supporting older adults in rural communities. It covers definitions of mental health and illness, identification of common conditions and their signs, practical strategies for support, and guidelines for referral to mental health professionals. Special attention is given to the unique realities of rural settings, including stigma, isolation, resource access, and self-care for health workers.
