Catherine Huff
Retired CEO, Western New York Rural Area Health Education Center

Board Treasurer

Catherine Huff is the retired Chief Executive Officer of the Western New York Rural Area Health Education Center, Inc. (Rural AHEC).  Catherine earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English from SUNY Geneseo and began her career as a social worker for the Wyoming County Department of Social Services.  She ended her social work career as the Director of the Services division and moved into the training field, working as the Staff Development Coordinator for the agency.  After seventeen years working for the county, Catherine moved to Rural AHEC as the Workforce Coordinator in 2005.   Catherine’s workforce development experience includes extensive work on the Center for Medicaid’s Delivery System Reform Incentive Program (DSRIP) positioning Rural AHEC as the workforce vendor for two Performing Provider Systems (PPS) and as a training partner for the third PPS in the Rural AHEC region.  Recently, the organization has developed an online health workforce training division – Advanced Training for Healthcare Occupations (ATHOs).  This division is designed to meet the online, in-person or hybrid training needs of the healthcare workforce.  Catherine continues her involvement in healthcare workforce development, acting as the Board Treasurer for the Health Workforce Collaborative.

The foundation of the Health Workforce Collaborative is based on the values of democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity. In the tradition of its founders, the Collaborative upholds the ethical values of honesty, transparency, social responsibility and caring for others.
